Horizons's Roof

Well, I've managed to get a bit done on the roof, but it's a little sketchy. I was wondering if anybody out there had some more images of the camera on the roof and shots of the roof area itself. As you can tell in the *only* photo I have of the camera (shown below) it's a little tricky to model a whole roof from this pic.

I'm also looksing for shots taken from the roof showing parts of the roof. I have a blurry small drawing showing two roof drains, but I have no idea what they look like. I'd like to really detail this section of the pavilion since it was so rarely seen.

This is what I have so far. Please disregard the rendering artifacts. :)

You can see the roof hatch on the left side of the roof. The pole sticking up is tha approximate position of the camera.

Themed Attractions

Hi all,

I thought I'd mention a site I've been helping with the last couple of weeks: Themed Attractions.com

It's a new site full of Disney other theme parks photos (over 9400 and counting) and videos. The owner vfxpro, has worked very hard at putting together this site and has set up a forum for discussions on all things Theme Park and Disney related.

We're asking folks to stop by the site, look around and have a chat with us in the forums. We'd love to see ya there! :)

Why the Horizons Project Has Taken So Long To Complete

I'm sure as you look at the dates of the postings for the Horizons Project you've probably wondered “Why is it taking him so long to finish this?”.

Let me explain.

I originally intended the Horizons project to only take six months. But life has a funny way of changing one's plans. Shortly after starting the project my life got real busy real fast: I got engaged, then married (honeymoon in WDW, of course), bought a house, changed jobs, has surgery on my left hand, and finally had a kid. Whew! See what I mean?

Did I mention I also had to translate the model from 3D Studio Max to XSI, learn XSI and then correct some modeling issues?

So you can see I have been busy, just not on the project as much as I would have liked. Although it looks like things are changing. I have been able to work on the model the last few weeks here and there. And while most of it was finishing up corrections to the model, I did begin to add new parts to the model.

So if things continue to go smoothly and calm down a bit in my "offline" life you should see some new updates to the project soon. :)
